About TMY
My artwork is process-oriented automatic drawing. Through daily iteration, I develop my own personal vocabulary of repeating lines and shapes with marks that organically multiply into tangled, swelling masses of ink. The shapes coalesce into dense, sinuous structures that tranform the blank page into something alien. I embrace the crowded linework of horror vacui and the unpredictability of intuitive decisions, allowing forms to emerge from one another through a restless flow of ink. Lines proliferate. They swarm, accumulate and conspire together. Densely woven shapes breathe with their own logic.
I do not control the drawing process as much as I negotiate with it. The lines flow from my hand of their own accord. I lean into compulsions and look for images as they emerge. My aim is for my conscious mind to step back and allow the work to channel through me unimpeded.
